It plays a crucial role to maintain health of major body system.   The brain is an organ made up of a large mass of nerve tissue protected within the skull. This complex organ has many functions. It receives processes and interprets information. Your brain also stores memories and controls your movements. Some of the brain’s main functions include:

  • Processing sensory information
  • Regulating blood pressure and breathing

·         Releasing hormones. It is essential for preserving the health of the main bodily systems. The brain is an organ composed primarily of nerve tissue that is housed and shielded by the skull. Parts of brain:

Your brain’s structure is complex. At a high level the brain can be divided into the several parts:

·         Cerebrum

·          Brainstem

·          Cerebellum

Cerebrum:

It is the largest forebrain and most complex part of the brain.  It interprets sounds and touches. It also regulates emotions, reasoning and learning. Your cerebrum makes up about 80% of your brain. The cerebrum is the front part of the brain and includes the cerebral cortex. This part of the brain is responsible for many processes including:

  • initiating and controlling movement
  • thinking
  • emotion
  • problem-solving
  • learning

It’s divided into two halves, called hemispheres. It has right and left halves. They're connected in the middle by a band of nerve fibers that lets them communicate. These halves may look like mirror images of each other but many scientists believe they have different functions:

  • The left side is considered the logical analytical, objective side.
  • The right side is thought to be more intuitive creative and subjective.

The outer layer of the cerebrum is called the cortex (also known as "gray matter").

Cerebrum

Cerebellum

The cerebellum is located in the back of your brain and hindbrain part that sits underneath the back end of the cerebrum. It consists of the:

·         Cerebellum

·         Pons

       Medulla

The cerebellum is also called the "little brain" because it looks like a small version of the cerebrum. Its function is to coordinate voluntary muscle movements and to maintain posture, balance and equilibrium. It manages the balance coordination and fine motor skills.

Cerebellum

Brainstem:

Your brainstem is in the lower part of your brain. It connects the rest of your brain to your spinal cord. Controls basic life functions such as:

·         Breathing

·          Heart rate

·          Sleep

You don’t consciously control these functions like your heart rate, breathing sleep and wake cycles, and swallowing.

Brain Impacts Overall Health:

The brain doesn’t just control thoughts and movement it also influences every system in the body including:

  • Immune System Function
  • Hormonal Regulation
  • Digestive Health
  • Cardiovascular Health

Improving and Maintaining Brain Health:

Brain health is just as important as physical health.  There are several steps you can take to promote brain health and ensure it functions at its best throughout your life:

Conclusion:

The brain is the most complex structure in the body to maintain your health. To maintain it one of the most important aspects of overall health. The brain is at the core of all bodily functions, from physical movement and coordination to emotional balance and mental clarity. We can take proactive steps to maintain brain health through regular exercise, a balanced diet, mental stimulation, and good sleep by understanding its role in health.
